Secure the Future of Youth!

Since our incorporation in 2015, Dream on Purpose (DOP) has impacted the lives of more than 1,300 youth. We are in the manifestation business. DOP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that empowers youth, specifically young ladies between the ages of 11-18, to actualize their dreams by connecting them with local resources through interactive workshops and promoting positive socialization through structured forums.

Girls tend to have lower self-esteem than boys starting at a young age, according to a report from the Dove Self-Esteem Project. Lower self-esteem in girls can have a wide range of negative effects on their mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. Some of the potential effects include poor academic performance, increased risk of mental health problems, negative body image, relationship problems, reduced career aspirations, and participating in risky behaviors. With the right support and interventions, girls with low self-esteem can learn to feel more confident, resilient, and empowered. DOP recognized the opportunity to make a sustainable, positive impact in the lives of girls between the ages of 11 and 18 by implementing the following programs:

Our signature program held quarterly, Cupcakes & Conversations (C&C), strives to narrow the confidence gap between girls and boys by encouraging girls to dream and empowering them to actualize those dreams. The objective is to give young girls a structured voice, a collective forum for positive dialogue and an opportunity to engage in a multi-tiered system of resources – just for them. Previously addressed topics include mental health awareness, college preparedness, money management, relationships and healthy dating practices, social etiquette, self-esteem, ways to cope through the pandemic, breast cancer awareness, conflict resolution skill building, grief and stress management, domestic violence awareness and prevention, entrepreneurship, and wealth management, etc.

Career Launch Intensive (CLI) is a coaching and mentoring program that provides young ladies between the employable ages of 15-18 with essential life skills that enable them to not only find a job, but also identify a career. This multi-day program consists of a career preparedness workshop and a shopping spree for an interview-ready attire. CLI is hosted in partnership with LYFEhouse, Inc.

Crown Placement teaches, encourages, and models self-care. Young ladies learn how to take care of their body, mind, and soul.

DOP REACH (Radically Empowering Agents of Change through Hope) allows us to work with young ladies at various middle and high schools following a guided curriculum on leadership and self-esteem development.

Filming with a Purpose is an eight-week immersive film production experience meticulously designed to enlighten, engage, and empower youth to delve into the film industry and explore the critical and timely topic of youth gun violence prevention, under the support of a mental health counselor.

Additionally, DOP is raising funds to leverage our newly-obtained $200,000 fixed capital outlay appropriation grant to open a youth center by 2025.
